Posts and pages are default content types in WordPress -- they are very similar with regard to creating, editing and deleting.
Generally speaking:
- Posts are used for blogs, announcements, and news items:
- They allow you to assign tags and categories are generally used for blog or news items.
- Pages are used for static page content.
To delete a new page complete the following:
- Click Pages or Posts on the left hand menu (depending upon which you will be deleting).
- Locate the page or post that you want to delete from the list
- Hover over the page or post and click Trash
This moves the post or page into the Trash This is very similar to your Mac's Trash or PC's Recycle Bin. Items placed in the Trash will remain there until permanently deleted.
To permanently delete the page or post:
- Locate and click the Trash link along the top of your list of pages/posts
PROTIP: You can also undo the delete action if you inadvertently delete a page or post by clicking the undo link pictured above.
After clicking on the Trash link, you'll be shown a list of all the pages in the Trash. To permanently delete a page:
- Hover over the page name and then click Delete Permanently shown in red below.
NOTE: Once you click Delete Permanently you page will be DESTROYED and cannot be restored... you will not be given any further prompts.
