The ASMP forums are build on the WordPress platform and uses a service called Gravatar (Global Avatar) for your forum avatar.
Setting up your Gravatar image is a quick and easy process (screenshot below shows the default avatar for the forums, prior to setting up Gravatar).
1.) Navigate to the Gravatar website (www.gravatar.com)
2.) Click on the big, blue “Create Your Own Gravatar” button.
3.) Either create a new WordPress.com account or sign in with one you have already set up.
PROTIP: This is NOT the same as your website admin login or WordPress.org login. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, it’s safe to say you can go ahead and create a new login.
4.) Gravatar now send you a confirmation email to the address you specified -- once you receive the email follow the instructions to confirm your account.
5.) Once you've followed the instructions contained in the email and activated your account, head back to www.gravatar.com and sign in.
6.) Now that you're signed in, go ahead and click on add a new image
7.) Choose a method to add the image (Upload, URL, Webcam, Past Uploads **if applicable).
6.) Once the image has been uploaded, you will be asked to crop the image (square), and will be prompted to give the image a rating.
NOTE: All Avatar images must be rated "G" meaning they are suitable for display on all websites with any audience type.
7.) That’s it! Now, when you comment on the forum as a signed in ASMP user, you’ll see the photo you associated with that account next to your comment.
NOTE: Due to website caching and to keep ASMP running fast, there may be a delay between the time when you fininsh your Gravatar set-up and when you avatar appears on the ASMP forums ( (screenshot shows the new avatar for the forums, after setting up Gravatar).
PROTIP: You can use one (1) Gravatar account for mulitple email addresses. All you need to do is specify which address you want to make primary.
BONUS PROTIP: If you use an info@, support@, etc. email address for your ASMP account you could consider adding the company’s logo as your photo!
